my freakin HP zd7000's screen went dead and i plugged an external monitor. now i have a geforce fx go5700 video card and i managed to move everything to the external monitor but how the hell do i turn off my laptops screen permanently? If i set to sleep, both monitors sleep and i checked the settings on nview desktop manager, how do i kill this mutha??

You set up a profile (or desktop configuration?) in ther Nvidia control panel thingy, then hit Display Properties (the normal Windows one), choose the external monitor and tick the appropriate boxes to make it not extended desktop mode....
