It happened to me 2 weeks ago.
My car's a writeoff.
Meanwhile the truck company are trying to get out of it!

Hope you have better luck than me.

horton, it can take months for the long-term effects of this accident to become apparent.
i don't have the "sue" mentality either, but protect yourself by not accepting final compensation from your insurance company yet. they'll try to give you something to cover immediate costs, which may forfeit future medical claims stemming from your accident.
just watch the fine print.

unless you chop it up and rip that shit. then you may have a problem.

dude,
you definitely need to get your rear-end get it checked by a doctor. i mean, your back and neck...you should get compensated for the medical bill or otherwise, it'll be a nasty lawsuit.

same thing happened to my wife in college. She was in an accident and felt fine. The next day she woke up and couldn't get out of bed.
If your back and neck are really bothering you, it's in your best interest to get it looked at by a doctor.
My wife never went to a doctor and she still complains of a stiff neck (the accident was something like 4 yrs ago)

ok. first of all..... never start a thread that only says rear-ended.
*throws lube down. wipes hands.
it's a bit missleading ol chap.
ok. to your story. i read about as far as 18-wheeler and got super turned on, i was like "OMG what IS an 18-wheeer" and i googled it, not porn. very dissapointed.
sorry about your car though.

serious now.
a neck injury won't present itself right away and can last for a long time.
i was hit from behind and had no problems for a week. then my back and neck started to kill me. you may have some money coming to you. you might want to get that checked out.
their insurance company may throw money at you right away. DON'T take it. if you do you can't ever get anymore if it is a serious injury.

.. for how long did your neck & back hurt?
horton
(Dec 29 05, 19:06)hurt for about a week.
at first i thought it was from heavy lifting at the gym. a few days before my back and neck started to hurt i was doing moderately heavy deadlifts. only when i talked to another person about it did they say the same thing happened to them after an accident.
2 days later i could hardly get out of bed.
i knew it wasn't all that serious cause i was only hit doing about 20-30mph. when his insurance guy asked how my back was (very casualy), i said it just started hurting like hell. he's like 'how about we give you $1000 to get it checked out?'
so i of course said hell yes.
well. in doing so that's all the money you can ever get from them. basically you 'settled' with them. so, if my back was really screwed up and i needed thousands in medical to fix it i would have been fucked cause the 1000 that they gave me was the settlement.
so. keep that in mind.
