I'm a longtime Mac user but I'm thinking about getting a PC as well. Any thoughts on which is better. AMD or Intel? Also, if you've got some suggestions of PC's around $1000. Thanks!

The top AMD and top Intel Zeon of p4 perform just about the same on a 32-bit op. AMD is a good amount of cash more tho.
I'd wait until the new Windows comes out where u can take advantage of the 64 bit cpu's and ram...
Prices should drop dramatically then....

AMD is the shit apparently. im no IT junkie but alot of my friends build their own (and my) pc's and they all have AMD.

no no no don't do it! PCs are for Germans and account execs and marketing directors.

I bought an AMD last year and can say it's been running fast and smooth since I've had it.
But next time I have the cash I'll probably buck up for a Mac.

what's the reason getting a pc?
if macintel comes out, it's probably like that you can run windown os platform. i have been so tempted to get a pc laptop but i don't need it.

right now i want to mess around with AS3 which i can't get on my mac yet. also figured it would be good to be familiar with windows and/or linux

tk- it takes a lot more than just the processor to have a system run windows vs osx

true, kevin.
i was reading an article the other day.
http://www.uneasysilence.com/os-…in any case, we are making a lot of assumptions.

get a PC and keep the mac. Use both. You'll be worth more.

Just remember one thing.
"Manager: We're all sharks. Remember, guys.
Employee: Huh? Sharks?
Manager: Yeah, we're all like sharks. Sharks have to keep moving their whole life or they'll die. They never stop moving. So keep moving, guys! We're sharks!
Employee: So basically what you're saying is that if we stop moving, you'll kill us all?"

i have both pc (desktop) and mac (powerbook). but i am starting to use less and less of pc.
i want to get rid of my pc simply for a decorative reason and replace it with a laptop to save more desk space. i know it's a stupid idea, but i am sooo tempted.
it's good to have both in case you ever wanna test on pc. expecially if you do web work.
