Not sure if I have a favourite, I could never pick. I always thought that the Willi Kunz books had a wonderful sense of design to themselves and for me were very useful texts.
Although my list of books that I would love to have is always growing faster than I can fund them.
Current design books I own:

Now the real question is "How many have you read?"
i feel that i dont read the books that I own, but I am always reading design books borrowed from friends and library... coz i feel that they will not be with me in a few days... but the books that I own are just in the bookshelf.. looking pretty
I just finished Wolfgang Wiengart's Typography and now Im reading Hoffmann's Graphic Design Manual.. both of them borrowed from the library..

I don't read many of many books in a linear way. I full them off the shelf at random, flipped through them and reads bits and pieces whenever I see fit to do so whether for personal enjoyment or to generate some ideas on how to solve a particular problem.

*pull
I have read a fair amount of the stuff I own though.

i wrote a design book.
(seriously)
but my favorite is probably the end of print or the elements of typographic style. massive change, if that qualifies, is really good, but it's more of a social commentary.

yeah, Massive Change is social commentary..
just coz its written by a designer, doesnt mean its a design book

I wrote, designed & edited a book as well, more self promo/philosophical than design per se
