If you had a client who wanted a web shop, not LOADS of products, only circa 20... but they needed users to be able to pay with Visa card, which kind of solution would you use??
We've looked at OSCommerce, but it seems a bit elaborate for our needs...
Cheers.

AFAIK, osCommerce is the only free (as in beer) solution.
i am also interested if anyone has any viable alternatives available?

Cheers for that. I wouldn't mind paying for this service.... as long as it's not toooo dear. I saw a thing advertised called Roman Cart... you aware of that??

http://www.names.co.uk/e-comcart…
Simple enough to set up, not free exactly though, and depends on your clients bank ect...

Cheers anyway. It's kind of funny there is no simpler way to add Visa card payment to a website...

osCommerce is SHIT!!! Please stay away from it.
Use paypal which is not hard to customize.

yeah, paypal is always the most professional way to go. Why is ocCommerce shit? Is it because you don't know how to work with it?

OSCommerce is really great and they have additions for visa card payments. Although PayPal integration can also take a standard visa too.
If they are dealing internationally that can get tricky with credit cards though.

i had to set up a credit card payment option for a site not too long ago.
the client wanted to verify a card as well as deduct the payment.
i used these guys.
http://www.authorize.net/(or the client did anyways)
the i used these guys that sells the exact asp code, prewritten for you for under $300. actually, checking my records it was $109. then all i did was add/subtract the forms i needed from the code and added our merchant numbers and set it up.
http://www.soundcommerce.com/looks like their site has changed in the past year. it was completely different. now i'm not sure how you buy the code.
at first it was a giant pain in the ass, but after buying the premade code it was a breeze.
the authorize.net code i got from their site was absolute shit. nothing worked and a bunch of the customer support peeps didn't know their asses from a hole in the ground.
good luck.

authorize.net is a great solution in my opinion, we use it at work everyday.

true cosmo.
i hope i didn't give off the wrong impression of it.
when i used it the customer service was a bit bad and all the code they offered wouldn't work. i even had two of the customer service reps say "oh that is old code" so i was a bit confused.
seems like a lot has changed with them in the past year and it looks like they have their shit together.

yeah, they did have some issue a while back but everything seems to smooth now.
I've used these before and they are reliable:
