Didn't mean anything bad by it kingjulien...
He is an interesting guy, I just think that we're deluded these days with thinking of proper "heroes" as big figures in the world.
He's a hero to you though, and that's all that matters. :)

Well I guess true heroes are really everyday folks - agreed, and I guess I should have been more specific in my question, so that it was centered around one's career, or in terms of those who have inspired you to create or pursue a certain artistic path.

What about Astronauts?
I always thought they were pretty heroic. Risking their @sses everytime out on a rocket into space.

I would like to call anton a hero, but I know that if I ever hung out with him I would probably hate him. Tryed to meet him after a show once and he brushed me off. Frankie Teardrop was a nice guy though.
Got to meet Henry rollins in Austin once. I idolized him at the time.

kj - side question - how's the book coming? i know you've been in somewhat poor health, and shooting photos of prostitutes, so maybe the book has been put on the backburner.
just curious.

anything to do with prostitutes in terms of content is awesome!

I think the media these days makes us feel guilty if we don't immediatly think of soldiers as heroes.

(Dec 20 05, 12:23)i totally agree. The same with cops and firemen after 9/11. Of course these guys are courageous for what they do, but I can't forget the NY cops and what they did to that poor guy with the plunger, let alone the dude they shot 41 times for reaching for his wallet.

I wrote a very long letter to Laurie Anderson a couple years ago, with an idea for an arts mentor program, and her as my mentor. Didn't happen. Lol.
I tried the same thing with David Lynch. That also did not happen.

I tried the same thing with David Hasselhoff. That also did not happen.

I wrote Margaret Atwood once and she graciously responded. I emailed Stefan Sagmeister when I was down about my career and he sent back an inspiring response; and I met Lucinda Williams. I'm still waiting for word back from Virginia Woolf...hhmm...

I got a chance to hang with some guiitar heroes of mine at a label party once.
Needless to say , some where the biggest , most arrogant assholes I have met.
