I like that site, nice and simple.

I do feel like I have seen that exact same site in the exact same face before.

the purpose is to display visual material, not to be visual material on its own, no?

(Dec 20 05, 07:55)hah, I'm sorry, I din't mean to be controversial. I have given this very arguement over and over, but for me now, it looks like people are adopting this like a "style", because so-and-so has one like that, or they are using functionality to justify doing something they like, that looks like all them. sorry, bad mood today - just got really dissapointed by anojther one of these sites like that. Same menu, same typo, same transitions....
If your about functionality and display - don't use Flash, use HTML. Why put an uneccessary barrier between you and the user when you are supposedly not trying to be visual material? I smell shite in all this, that's all
just imo.

Why are their clients less than desirable? Because many of them aren't huge corporations?

(Dec 20 05, 08:12)They have their fair share trust me.
I agree with Rand , I really don't have that much of a problem towards their site, but I think they're work (as stated in my first post) is not of the same standard of studios that have been posted there.
I totally see what your saying Kelpie it should just be some nice DHTML and CSS, all the same it does showcase their work well

The columns site is about 3 years old now, so previous to a lot of sites that you lot are inferring.
It serves it's purpose very well, as many portfolio sites, the focus is on the work, not the site.

click = case studies
work = click
next page = click...does it need anything else?
- -sputnik-0
i wish there'd be a relevant visual element (i.e. logo or something) to go along with the description when you initially click on the individual case studies.
i just want to see the work right away...that extra click gets annoying, and i'd be more apt to read the description if i was engaged by the work.
- kelpie0
yes Lee.
It needs cowbell and lots of it.
- phatlee0
-sputnik- you don't have to read the text, besides its not a lot.
- phatlee0
True kelpie...
