why is it called boxing day? i never got that...
- digilee0
It goes back to the days where you had servants.
You, the rich fuckers, would give a box of pressies, usually left over xmas food, to the servants.

The term Boxing day comes from olden times when the gentry would give their house staff their christmas box - a box with money in it - generally the day after christmas

(Dec 19 05, 06:29)Nah, that's Christmas day proper. How many families argue on that day?
- bolus0
they probably stay over..... and then you wake up and have another fight about who's cleaning and who misbehaved...
- kelpie0
I'll have pressies from you Moth.

i read about a survey which showed most xmas fights happen right after the dessert.
possibly people are so stuffed by then that their blood gets pumped to their heads as that is the only place with some vacuum left...

i think boxing day came from the day when all the rich white folk would beat up their servants with boxing gloves for fun. then put them into boxes and mail them to each other as a 'trade' day.
that's pretty fucked up canada.

haha i was thinking it was more like that yes!

Bums are the new fannies.
Except in the US, where they have always been fannies, and of course amidst homosexual religions.
