Manderlay is part of an 'American'-themed trilogy directed and written by Lars von Trier, starring Bryce Dallas Howard.
If you haven't seen Dogville (the first installment, starring Nicole Kidman) yet then see it!
The third one, Wasington, will be out in a couple of years.
Yes, they can be considered to be anti-American films, but they definitely make you think about tons of issues.
Both Dogville and Manderlay are amazing.

Have you ever seen a movie with him in it where he doesn't shout "Riggs! RIGGS!" or "I'm too old for this sheeyt!"

I killed this thread, didn't i?

haha, NICE ONE JOX!
Just kidding, but I do want people to discuss these films. Actually, I think I may just be starting an America versus the rest of the world thread, knowing how things go on around here.
Oh well. Discuss what you will.
By the way, I didn't realize that Danny Glover or Lauren Bacall was in the film until I saw the credits. And then I said, "I KNEW I knew who those people were..."
To be honest, I was more focused on Bryce Howard's acting, since she's just starting out and still manages to do a great job.

hey, Jox you live quite close to where Lars is from.
Tons of ppl criticize him for writing films about America without ever visiting the country.
Usually I would say that ppl have to experience a place or another person's life before being able to comment on it, but with this issue it's different. I feel that most non-Americans can write about America is a truthful way, since the culture is everywhere.

I liked breaking the waves, even for the heavy-handedness of it

No, I haven't! Sounds interesting though. I'm definitely going to check out more of Trier's films.
