hello all- i'm posting this from the dusty pc that sits in the corner of the office. It appears that the logic board on my G5 has failed. Nope, I don't have applecare (why didn't i listen?!?). Anyone have any experience and words of wisdom with this problem before I call apple (for a fee) and ship off the poor girl?

what brings you to this conclusion?

i started getting a kernel error type message off and on over the past couple of days. ran the hardware test and it came back with logic board failure.

hmm damn.. did you try resetting th epower and zapping pram (i hate saying that) and did you push that reset button on the logc board?

forgot all about that pram thing, i'll try that. and i didn't even know there was a reset button on the logic board, i'll check that out.
thanks rasko. hope your day is going smoother than mine.

on to the reset button.

One last thing you can try is looking up resetting nvram (I believe it's cmd-opt-o-f at boot, then reset-nvram then reset-all at the text prompt.
in any case, the hardware test cd is pretty reliable. in my experience. is your g5 still under warranty (even if your phone call isn't free)?

stratus - according to apple support website resetting your pram also resets the nvram.
just reset the logic board... still screwed.
not looking good.
