renders problems-after effects

  i got this little prob in after effects.

  i render a file, it previews good, i can click open the quicktime during the render and check for errrors...
  but when its totally rendered out it says its 307 kb..and i cant open the file.

  only prob i can see, that i render it out to my external HD...
