so i was at this company party last week - and I decided to enter some of the drunken competitions.
I won the Nascar themed one. Figures... i'm white... balding and was originally born in Nevada... I think they all just 'let the redneck win'...
... anyway -
I won 20 bucks to Barnes & Noble...
... I have a ton art books... plenty of photography books... plenty of design and programming books..
... i want to get something to READ... like... a novel - a good one... or two.
Just throw out random suggestions - I don't care... but I can't decide... so i'm going to take suggestions and probably just pick a few out of a hat...
... begin suggesting please:

thanks to -scarabin-, i'm reading House of Leaves. He told me that it's written by Poe's brother and that she did a cd based on the book. when i bought the book, i tried to find the cd, too but they were out.
I can't recommend the Kushiel Trilogy enough. I love it so much, I read it 3 times in a row a few months AFTER reading it for the first time and then finding that very few authors can captivate me as much as Jacqueline Carey did with this trilogy. I can email you more about it if you want becaus any synopsis i've found so far does not do it justice.

Will Self has been my fav novelist for quite a few years.. he's one dark MF... infamous for getting busted doing Heroin on the PM's private jet.
"Great Apes" is a hilarious (& dirty) read.
haven't had a chance to pick-up his latest.

well, it's not like you've been giving me any foreplay (aka copy to edit) lately either, bub. :P
Kushiel Trilogy. Lots of naughty-type sex (she's a courtesan and a spy), intrigue and history & cultures that match our own so it's fun to find the correlation. the population's history is neat, too.

The Last Samurai by Helen De Witt
is fantastic..

Allways loved Will Self's short stories but I find with his novels they can be one idea stretched a bit thin. The Scale[?] short story was terrific as was the one about driving from scotland to london, both in the Big Big Toys book I think.

I'm into Iain Banks. He's a scotish writer. I've read loads of his books and they always grab me and pull me along at a nice pace.
his first the Wasp Factory is dark.
Dead Air, crow road and whit are also very good.

Wasp Factory inspired me to build strange contraptions in my loft and set fire to dogs.
