Will a Fla from a PC open on a Mac and vice versa?

oh yes, defintely!

depends what versions, etc, etc. I've had problems sending Macheads FLA's in the past.

.fla files are completely cross-platform.
1) make sure they are the correct version(mx, mx2004, flash8, etc)
2)fonts are definitely a concern; the naming conventions can be different for the same font per platform.
