software interface q

    Hello, I have to design a interface for a software to be used on mac and pc platforms. My Q is: Should I adapt the background design (scrollbar,close, maximize buttons...) to the mac/windows look or make totally new buttons like the games have. is there a standard for that? is there a mac/win interface you can download and adapt to your custom software? please help!
