does anybody know how to hide an object in maya but still have it have an effect on its surroundings ie. raytraces, reflections? thanks in advance. boss wants a snow globe but i need the objects rendered seperatly.

Attribute Editor > Render Stats.
Check boxes for cast shadows, receive shadows, primary visilbility, visibility in reflections, refractions etc.
