My friend is heading out to Japan and I thought it would be a good idea to get him to pick me up a DSLR as I would imagine they would be cheaper out there.
What sort of markdown can I expect from british prices, if any at all? And if you know any specific websites of shops that do really good deals I would be appreciative.
Cheers,
Tom

They are cheaper but not that much. but I'm comparing their prices to the prices here in canada and the us.
I have been thinking in getting also a digital slr from japan but it might be better for me to get it here in canada because of the warranty.
you can get an idea of the prices they have in japan in this site. http://www.kakaku.com/sku/pricem…

lol @ watermelon
biccamera is expensive, even with their pointcards. Same goes for almost all chains. Sakuraya, Yobobashi, etc...
Check first post about kakaku.com , that's probably the cheapest around. Most of the listed prices are semi-obscure little shops in Akihabara.
If the kakaku.com site is hard to navigate (it's in Japanese) I'd say just head out to Akihabara one day and browse around and you will likely find a better price then the big chains as those mentioned before.
