ipod confusion

    I'll make this short: You can read my dilemma below if you want.

    Or: Does anyone have an ipod firewire cable they don't need anymore?

    Let's get this straight:

    I connect my ipod to my computer with a FireWire cable because USB wouldn't work properly.

    Mine (last gen. clickwheel 20GB) came with the firewire cable type of power adapter.

    I keep my ipod connected to the power adapter in my living room, and connect the audio direct to my stereo. This, of course uses the FireWire cable.

    When I want to add songs, I have to unhook the FireWire cable and connect it to my computer. I return it to the living room when done.

    Now, if I were to want this new dock with the audio output (higher sound quality than directly out of the ipod) and wanted to keep the firewire cable on my computer ALL THE TIME, I'd have to buy the following:

    Dock: $39
    New Power Adapter: $29
    Use my USB cable to connect to the adapter.
