hi guys, I worked on a file yesterday which I now cannot open so I've lost a days work - I need some tips on how to salvage some of it...? please...
here's some info on it:
when I save the file it says at the end: Illustrator PDF warnings
The font BannerLetPlain could not be embedded in the PDF document...
and when I try to open it again after saving it says: 'Can't open the illustration. The Illustration contains an illegal operand.Offending operator. dop3_;(///1V etc etc...
I've tried importing it, opening it with CS but no luck. Any thoughts, anyone? I've also opened it on a different machine too and it does exactly the same. (opens the file with no artwork in it)
HELP :(

remove that font from your system and retry, see what happens.

cheers bullit, tried that, still fucked. I'm kinda resigned to redoing it now but am fully pissed off. Illustrator is a dodgy son of a bitch sometimes. I might re-install if the IT dept. give me the disk in the next two minutes...

You could try that, there is an option to repair the program also.
Does sound like a fuck up with the software. I had a similar problem with Indesign.

CS2 = bad
went back to CS after illustrator kept being a constant cunt to me

CS2 PS has a seeeeeeriously annoying compatability problem with PS6.
Adobes helpful fix of "upgrade the others and gie us mare cash" is nearly as annoying.

YA CS2 can be a wright shit head sometimes.
I went to open a document and it kept giving me the, "you do not have this font on your system error", when I know I did have the font. And then it started to give me this error with every Illustrator file I tried to open.
Bag of shite.

Try importing file into Indesign or quark and then saving as an eps and re-opening in Illustrator?
