howdy.
So, I'm going to amsterdam for 3 days this saturday, first time. I'm looking for cool places to check out, cool things to do, not the touristy stuff, you know. Nice bars/ restaurants, cool areas, any exhibits, all that. And please don't tell me to go to rotterdam, I already read the previous posts...

if i remember correctly there is a droog design museum/shop near a bridge. but yea, sitting down and chatting happens a lot in that place.

i found this dream of a bookstore in the Staalstraat in Amsterdam, they opened 2 in that street now.

i really recommend that street for anyone visiting Amsterdam.

I'll second 11.
Went there last weekend, food was good, view was awesome, and the atmosphere was great. Turns into a club after dinner.
But unless you're with someone who knows you'll never find it. Get a cab.(But the toilet is fuckin' mingin')

Just don't make an ass of yourself (I'm sure you won't) but I just wanted to wear a t-shirt saying 'sorry , I'm British' the whole time I was staying there - so many drunken brits and yanks and tourists who can't handle their shmoke. but it's a great city with such a creative vibrancy - you'll love it.

there's a museum there with the Star of Africa (world's biggest diamon), plus the Heineken Brewery, the Sex Museum and tons of other funny shite.
