won't wash unfit...
although there is a clause in the letter they gave me to sign that says:
"If at any time you do need to access newstoday.com from your work machine for business purposes you must have this authorised by a member of the management team in advance"
So they're gonna come over and watch what I post???
Nah, no way. Either I can use it or I can't, if they won't let me be on normally, they're certainly not going to use my screenname for their own benefit.
Funny though, just this afternoon I was looking for some AS 2.0 tutorials and forums that are good for learning OOP for a customer.. not allowed on NT though to ask for personal experiences.. ah well another happy customer, eh?

yup, kelpie:
It’s often written as “tow the line”, but this is incorrect. It is easy to understand where the confusion came from, particularly when the phrase is combined with an entity, as in “toe the company line” or “toe the party line”. It is easy to visualize a poor wretch toiling with the company rope over his shoulder.
The phrase is clearly "toe", however, and the origin is straightforward. It refers to stepping up and putting your toe on a starting line. It's related to another phrase, "up to scratch."
"Toe the line" has become corrupted from its original meaning. Now, when you hear of someone "toeing the line", you tend to think of someone brought to heel, of someone staying within prescribed behaviour, rather than the original meaning of someone stepping up to a challenge. This original sense is still maintained in the phrase "toe the mark", a more British saying, which retains the feeling of someone preparing for a contest (at least to my ear, it does.)

they had 15 posts of mine from yesterday. I'm not sure if they were all of my posts or not...
They spoke to me yesterday about it already, I even offered to keep a personal log over a week of how much time NT takes up in my day, what benefits that my colleagues get from it - links to tutorials / forums / resources etc and which posts are off topic.
then today they just say "We think it is taking up over 20% of your time, so we're banning you from visiting NT"
God only knows how much time my boss spent reading NT to find all the posts. AND was then prepared to waste 2 hours of his time and 2 hours of mine discussing it.....

All good managers know that once you have made a decision, no matter if you know it to be wrong or not, changing your mind is a sign of weakness.
It's a good job pilots / bus drivers etc aren't indoctrinated the same way.
- kelpie0
thanks Para; that was, though longwinded, very informative.
