Making that long postponed transition from 2D to 3D. Anyone know of a good place to start book/CD/tutorial wise. I'm looking at lynda.com and vtc.com at the mo, but if anyone knows any better please post. I'm a video/visual/audio type of learner which is why I like lynda and vtc.
Cheers everyone in advance!

Um, is this the right place to ask about 3D. Thought someone on the PVN would be?
Well then if not here then some pointers in the right direction.
Cheers

I recommend http://www.simplymaya.com/ for quick and easy videos. They have a bunch of free stuff that you can sample.
Also http://www.digitaltutors.com has a similar deal.
I purchased a book series from Alias last MacWorld... about 7 or 8 books.. each with cd's of the scene files. They were great.
I hope this helps.

Hey I started off by buying the books Alias had to offer. They have like 30 dvds that rock, but I gave up and started to learn Cinema 4D XL 9. I found it easier to learn, be prepared to make your brain hurt. It helps if you know C++ as well as physics. Best of luck to you.

Tad...
I switched over from cinema...had been using it version 6-8. I agree cinema was way easier to get rolling in... and definately more intuitive and consolidated.
Cinema is basically the only other mainstream program except lightwave that isn't owned by Autodesk.

That's good to know. Hopefully someday I'll make that switch back, when I can afford the unlimited license.
