in general you don't want to scale up an image, but you know that already...
Something you could do is to set vars for maximum size and a block of code to execute when it evluates.
Does that make sense?

fate, thank you very much for the .fla file example. Very helpful. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but when I export it out of Flash the back pic does expand depending on my window sizing but not proportionally. If I go to extremes, like pull it in all the vertically, the image distorts.
Is there a way to make it not do that?
