Dreamhost sucks. I switched over to them recently and their email is constantly having time-out errors and dropped connections.
Anyone else hosted with them experiencing the same problems?
- kerus0
i got a deal of like some ridiculous amount oif bandwidth for $45 for 2 years.
a week and about 6 super slow support responses later i got rid of them.. absolutely awful

They have always replied for me and been able to help, and I have rarely had issues where I actually need to contact them about something. No problems with my email either.
Ive enjoyed using dreamhost over MT, even though I like aspects of MT's control panel better.

It looks like it sucks.
- tehgee0
i had to switch because the email is a joke
- kerus0
i wouldnt even call what DH has a "control panel"
its just a pile of shit and links.
got problems? use our antiquated "bbs" full of nerds cus our tech support is 9-5 suckerrrrr!!thank you MT

I've been with them for 3 years and it's been great. Every host has problems, MT as well. That's the net, boy and girls.
- madirish0
could not agree more, Demo. you absolutly get what you pay for.
anyone who is using services like MT or DreamHost is more concerned with budget than service, that is just clear. it is somewhat silly to even be bitching over it. if they weren't, they would be w/ RackSpace or Zettai or another big-boy that pays you when their service goes down.
- kerus0
yeah anyways, back on topic, dreamhost is a joke

I've been with Dreamhost since March and haven't had any problems with the email. Granted, their control panel isn't the prettiest but I've always gotten quick responses from them and I love their low prices and special offers.
If you want so much more then pay more, but for a guy on a budget like me then Dreamhost is perfect.

dreamhost has been nothing short of perfect for me. SUPER quick reply times, simple control panel and great pricing.
my only complaint is the generic email names, ie using a number as your user name rather than your actual email address - but apparently this is going to be resolved soon!

My photoblog is on Dreamhost, and I've complained about them once before when they had problems.
But then I said, wait a second, I paid 10 bucks for this for a full year. Still a great deal and I haven't had any probs since either.
I don't use them for email at all so I don't know about that.

I use Dreamhost for 'smaller' clients whose sites are getting minor traffic and who are on a tight budget. But yes, email downtimes galore!
For bigger ones I use a local host, which I can call 24/7 for support.
Cheers.

dudes... dreamhost is great, mediatemple is great but why complain when there are thousands of hosting companies out there are totally SHIT!!!

I went ahead and changed to (mt).
I just couldn't afford to have downtimes with my email.
Email = client communication = food on the table.

ah, the sweet satisfaction of email that works.
Has anyone noticed just how fast DNS is propogating these days?
Advancing technology makes lives better.

The authoritative servers change in as little as 5 minutes for most domains.
However, local DNS servers will cache up to the TTL of the old domain, which can be anywhere from 5 minutes to 2 weeks, and it depends completely on the old host.
- tehgee0
yeha when i switch ed over my email they had to run a dns update becaus eone of the name servers was still reporting to the old dns so my emails were bouncing
- hiten0
i like them. there are a few issues but nothing major. I dont need to be super connected I dont need to recieve my email every second so i dont care much I liked the price.
- geerub0
The first couple of years I used them they were great. Then they became sloppy and their customer service sucked.
- mowax0
i've been using them for 5 years. you should always email them yr problem and they will fix it asap. i think they are the best support.
for yr email issues, i think i had before and they reply me dat to set yr server setting on yr mail program on outgoing server port to 25 or 587 but not sure this will be the same issue. u should email them. yea use their control pannel.
