We deal with re-branding alot where I work, and we've started to approach it from another angle.
I should note that it's because of an NT member's wise words on the subject that we're looking at it differently.
Think of branding and rebranding as something you don't directly control. The branding happens in the eyes of the viewer as a result of your good identity and positioning.
Tell people who you are, what you do, etc. and reinforce it with a good identity. This will become your brand in the eyes of the viewer.
