Anyone setup a podcast yet? I don't use iTunes because it is the ghey on PC.
Do I have to create an rss file with it or is it just one big azz mp3? Thanks.
I guess I am just unsure how iTunes pulls the podcast from the server.

I've used Feedburner (http://www.feedburner.com). It's pretty easy to set one up with this. You'll still need podcasting software (such as iTunes) from which to listen to the cast.

yea set up and RSS, heres my example
feed://www.blackspade.co.nz/soun...then register it with Podcasts on iTunes if you want others to be able to search and find it via iTunes (i cant do this cos we dont have iTunes store here in NZ)
if you do a search for 'lucas' on iTunes, apparantly he does podcasts on setting up Podcasts
there is a good lil app called Podcast Maker also
http://www.potionfactory.com/or read
http://odeo.com/blog/2005/10/pod…"Podcasting is know for what it is by its tie to an RSS feed. A Podcast isn't any mp3 file or any mp3 file published that is avalible on the net."
"I believe that an Mp3 or other audio/video file becomes a "podcast" when it is available for subscription. If I merely send an Mp3 to a friend, its just an Mp3, not a podcast."

so Dobs you could have your FMT Jams as a subscription based Podcast,
that would automatically download (if people had it set to do so) to an iPod when someone plugged it into their machine/iTunes for that day
if that makes sense, but i kno you arent into iTunes

not sure if I want it to be available to just anyone, i had bandwidth problems last year, fixed it and dont necessarily want to deal with it again.
Thanks. I think I want to think about this a bit and take a closer look at my stats.
- blackspade0
yea actually after i poosted that I wondered bout bandwidth issues
im sure you must be able to have a podcast subscription invitation only or sumthin ? maybe
if there isnt there shuld be!

seriously thanks. I am going to have to think about this a bit. Id like to do it, but dont need the beef considering increasing my traffic really doesnt do anything for me, personally.

To set up an RSS podcast feed I use this:
Also came across this neat bit of freeware to produce them:

Then also use feedburner, Odea, itunes to help get the word out..
For bandwidth concerns host files here:
