Mines fucked, functions have stopped working, tried reformatting it, problem still there. Says on the site they will replace your Ipod if its under the 12 month warranty with either a second hand, refurbished or new Ipod, here's hoping its a new one, dont mind getting my second hand Ipod back, but not someone elses. Anyone else had to send their in? what you get back?

Sent mine back and they replaced with someone else's second hand iPod, they also tried to charged me an extra £30 for all the mp3s that were still on it!!
Joke!!
Although I've had mine for 10 months and it is starting to show signs of fatigue, crashing all the time, weird lines across the screen etc, what should I do??

Which model iPod is it??? I got mine last Dec/Jan and it is the 40gb model. 4th gen I think (b/w screen).
Anyway, everyone I know who got the same model as me right around the same time have all had theirs die on them. Mine is the last one not to die....I'm expecting it to go at any second.

Designaked, Strange enough, I got mine in January this year, its also 40 gig, but its the Ipod Photo, which of course they have now stopped producing already. better not give me a fukin second hand one, I kept mine in tip top condition

I don't think its directly Apple's fault. I'm not trying to give them a pass on this, by any means, but I think its an HD problem. Aren't the HD's made by IBM?
Ya, I hope when mine fails, which seems inevitable, then they better replace it with a new one. Anyone else smell a class action?

If you bought a toaster from KMart and the toaster stopped making toast after the warranty would you file a class action suit against "Blammo" the toaster maker?

I guess I am a lucky one. I have a second generation 10GB ipod for about 3 years... no problems. The battery still charges for 9 hours.
good luck!

(Nov 8 05, 04:32)It's cheaper, sounds better than the Sony and iPod (imho), has a radio, recording, and it fully supports drag n drop rather than all all that faffing about with iPod hacks to do the same thing.
It doesn't look fantastic (i dont like the iPod curves however) but it plays music right?
The Sony looks better.. but no radio.

Simple:
1. Go to an Apple Store.
2. Tell them about the problem.
3. If they offer you a new one, take it.
4. If they don't offer you a new one, don't take it.
5. Repeat steps 1 – 4 with different members of staff and/or different Apple Stores until successful.
Easy.
Thankfully mine is still going strong after a year. A friend of mine took his back direct to an Apple Store, and they gave him a brand spaking new one... fully boxed up etc.

Also, I have a Toshiba Gigabeat F20 that I am going to put on eBay (UK) in the next couple of days.
If any of you are interested I can post a link once I have one?

Got a new one from them today. Still an Ipod photo. might put it up now on ebay lol

I've done the same thing as HumanMale twice in the past 3 years I have had my ipod, and it has worked everytime.
The first time, I got a brand new ipod (my 20G second genration ipod was upgraded to a 30G third generation)
The second time I had to send it in for replacement, I supposedly got a refurbished ipod the last time, and it looks like a brand new one (no scratches, dirt, etc). The only difference really was that It just came in a repair box, and didn't come with any accessories.

Mine stopped working after screwing up for quite a while. The best was when I uploaded some new stuff and I undocked it and try to play something and it said I had nothing on it. Great stuff. I went to my local Apple store and they replaced it with a new one BUT if it hasn't been 12 months but more than 6 months you have to pay a restocking charge
