Should one take part in competitions like this?
I read the small print on the bottom of the page.
What does it exactly mean? Imagine i have a nice logo wich would also work fo another organization, but by taking part in the competition i transfer all rights on the logo to them. Could they sell it for example and i don't even be one of the winners of this competition?

Never, ever, ever participate or otherwise support logo "competitions".
it is spec work, as defined by AIGA and many others.
If they want a logo, they need to hire a designer.
And the "we don't have that kind of money" complaint doesnt fly - because there are many levels of designers who work at different prices points and skill levels.

What about Olympic logos and such? Those are always done by competition...

They are donating the proceeds to new orelans - so donate your logo. and if you win you get cool shit, so there are benefits - and you get exposure.
I usually dont support these things, but it seems cool.

I would participate if they say:
If i win or i don't win I still have the rights to my logo and I could still use/sell it to someoneelse, and only in case I am one of the Winners AND they decide to use it, I transfer the rights to them.

No. It reduces the industry to a ronald mcdonald coloring contest.
to create a brand, you should be in communication with the client, and initiate the concept process from a creative brief. a contest is unfair to the client and the entire design profession.
please think about your importance as a designer.
