thanks for these great links, but right now I'm hoping to find an archive of pure logos, as opposed to packaging or posters that may contain logos

A friend here who does a lot of logotypes etc http://www.robclarke.com was looking for vintage logos a while back.
I think his web search was pretty fruitless but he bought this book which is huge and very comprehensive.
