I am looking at buying a new monitor to design full size magazine spreads on. I am thinking about the 23" apple flat screen. But I was also thinking about the 30" apple flat screen, is that overkill? Other than the fact that it will cost me a f'ing fortune! Can someone recomend a screen. I am currently using a lacie 19"

Dell 2405fpw
its a 24" and Dell uses the same screens as apple, and they are actually brighter.
ANd the best part, you can get the 24" for 1000 or under when they have special deals. They are awesome montitors. They have tons of inputs, USB ports, Card readers etc.

original question

isn't the brightness of the Dell actually a drawback? Who wants that for print design?

I started a thread like this a week or so ago (trying to decide whether to get the 30") and just gave up. I'm back to using my old RasterOps 21" crt after my previous apple crt monitor blew up in a cloud of smoke.

the price on the 30" has been lowered to 2500

the 23" is pretty slick too. big enough for my taste

but is it any good for print design. for color accuracy

just by the 30" display if its for spreads and Indesign tools you cant get enough space.

apparently the 20 and 30 are different than the 23, most of which exhibit a pink or yellow tint and uneven brightness
