...alternatives? does your studio use anything instead of fookin' dirtry, sticky b*stard spray mount?
Our studio are planning a mock up revolution, so if you use another method/contraption that doesn't involve inhailing copious amounts of glue, link it up...

The office downstairs have this cool roller thing. You wind your image (or whatever needs stuck) through it and it comes out with a thin sheet of plastic on one side and paper on the other. Peel the two apart and the back of your image has a thin layer of glue on it.
Stick.
Done.

Yep, something like David posted.

what David said or there's always rubber cement, yet it does seem sort of archaic...

xyron isn't bad but has a tendancy to crease your work sometimes when you roll it through but it doesn't stink and is kinder to your lungs.

i use doublesided adhesive paper. I tried everything else, and this is the best. I takes some practice, but it really good.
We use this brand:

used to use a glue machine - it used like uhu glue in a trough with rollers, and applied a thin layer of wet glue to your peice of paper, then stick. Very messy but safe.

i worked at a printer that had this hoss cold and hot laminator that had a cold process that was basically that sticky backing. it was a bit tricky, but once you got the idea it worked tits and wouldn't come off for anything

studio tack... you rub it on one side... then peel the paper off... its real easy and its removable... by far the best option:
here is one example I found
