Him and Jakob should get together and form a 'Warriors'-like gang...only for web 'usability'
what a nob end
- skelly0
His website's a good example of graphic design playing a "limited role"
- UndoUndo0
ha ha .' the web is not an advert' then tells you can only display his article with his 'advert' at the bottom of it.
evryones entitled to their own opinion

why does every "expert" have to see everything as black and white? I guess it's because they couldn't sell their ideas to idiot companies without a definitive answer. this guy makes nielsen look good.

What an idiot. And he really sucks at writing...
"and who wanted to look cool "
"And stuff"
"Why are so many graphic design experts still clueless..."
"one of these fancy awards?""Web is, at heart, a task-focused, functional place. If you want cutting edge web design, look at Google, Skype, EBay, Amazon. These websites make money by meeting real needs. "
Fucking hell, Gerry, you're a goddamn idiot. The sites you bitch about are not content dependent. Most of them are designed to promote an image or a product.
You can have your left-aligned navigation with the blue underlined links, but that doesn't mean anyone's going to REMEMBER you. That's the point of motion, Flash, untraditional navigation and "visually stunning" sites...be unique, be remembered.

he's misunderstanding graphic design to be only flashy graphics and flash intros. when in reality, everything on the web, including his own site, is graphic design. just because something is minimal in appearance doesn't mean there isn't design behind it.

most people care not for 'designed' sites. its of little use to them, function is king.
we all design for designers.. we believe eyecandy is king
- unclesize0
^ hmm.. though design is my favorite part, I disagree on it's importance. Content is still king.

(Oct 31 05, 16:31)You talking metaphorically or literally?

well as a consumer I want 'total quality'... in every aspect of the product.. good content, good design, usability, everything.
that guy is simply ignoring a huge area of business potential by undervaluing design to the point his message wont be heard by people like me who will run a mile to escape such a crappy looking site...
