Does anyone know if you can get this as a standalone product?

yes and you get a free iMac G5 with it

I'm running it on my G4 MDD right now. It's a bit of a hack to get it to run but it runs just fine.

here's where I got it. Read the comments on the story. One of them contains instructions on how to install, and how to get it to run with the push of a button.

Cheers. Which story are you referring to though?

my bad. forgot to post the link:

some things you should know first: after you install it according to the instructions, you need to restart or it won't be able to communicate with iPhoto, iTunes, etc.
The first time you load it, it will be like Spotlight, a little slow at first while it loads the library, but after a few seconds it should be fine.
Follow the extended instructions and create an AppleScript app to launch Front Row, then download XKeys to set your AppleScript to a function key.

I dont really see the idea of having Front Row without a remote..

i agree. i installed it purely so that I could show off to my coworkers. I don't really use it. it's kind of nice to have on a home computer if you have a wireless keyboard. It's non-operable with a mouse, sadly, so if you don't have a remote control then you have to control it using the arrow keys, return, and esc. kinda bullshit actually but hey, it works.

what about Salling Clicker and a Bluetooth phone.. ? that should work, I can control everything in OSX via my SE k700i.. should be possible with FR too... I might just give it a shot

True, the bluetooth phones should work but i've never tried it. Maybe even the Griffin controller knob thing... what's the name... would work but i dont' know

Just need a sailer clicker script to launch front row and its a winner
