What do contests where creating design work in 15 minutes say about the industry of Graphic Design? Totally cut-rate and lame.
Graphic Design used to be an industry created for the love and passion to create carefully considered and distinctive work and the ability to make a living doing so.

unfortunatelly, the process of the design isnt as much of a spectacle as lets say breakdancing. sorry, dont try so hard, design isnt that cool.

Hey horton, mattisimo.
taragee's got it right. It's not a statement on graphic design or the industry... just a fun way for designers to showcase their skillz in some new, dynamic way and to share it with an audience. You're right - it doesn't share the whole creative process... but it demystifies some of it for the non-designing crowd in an energetic setting. actually i think a lot of these people dont live in or near nyc (besides gee) so they are jealous that 8 of us may have 15 minutes to show off our skills. also nyc is a very fast paced environemt, outside of nyc life just seems to crawl to a slow speed in comparison. i can see why people would think 15 is just to short of time for their minds to comprehend anything. but really 15 minutes is a ton of time to get a point idea orr graphic across perfectly and seamlessly. also you can prepare it now, or maybe now! or even now! or right now! take your pick, or just wing it have fun pound down some drinks smoke some weed make new freinds and possibily win a free ibook laptop or a bag of goodies!!!
see, now the cut&pastecontest seems like fun!!!
