i've posted about this before but right after it quit doing it but started again today. on a lot of webpages, some programs and in AIM, the font keeps changing to either fractions or weird symbols. even if i disable auto-activation on the fonts, etc it still does it. anyone know what is going on?

try cleaning the font cache..
Onyx will do it or try Font Cache Cleaner/ Finagler..

Check what keyboard settings you are using.
Look at the top of your screen by the clock, airport icons etc. You should have an icon displaying what keyboard set up you are using.
If it's not showing goto>
system prefs > international then click the Input Menu tab. At the bottom check "show input menu in menu bar"viola.

word... i'll try that at work today. we'll see if it takes the cake. hope so! i need to be able to view ebay and instant messenger to properly entertain me when work is slow.

I get that too every now and then, but just restarting safari or whatever usually cures it...

i wish a restart would fix it, but this little problem is vicious!

It has something to do with Helvetica. Did you mess around with Helvetica?
I once replaced some of the OSX Helveticafonts with other versions, and I had the same problem.

yeah... it's a version of helvetica that keeps self activating. i turned auto-activation off and it was still displaying incorrectly even when the css of some web pages called for a serified font.

I've been having this problem too, so annoying.. Try searching through your fonts for the phrase "Phonetic." Deactivate any matches. Hope this helps
