make one that just reads a directory in, and orders them by either their upload date or some kind of detail in the filename...
simple

someone asked for something like this before.
i was after something similar a while ago and found a really nice php script that you put as the index page in a directory then below this you put folders and in these folders you upload your images. it makes the folder name into the directory name on the index page and you can have a 'cover' picture too. it basically creates a kind of website of image directories (and you can also put .swf's and quicktimes etc in there too). its really sweet and ust a tiny php script.
try google for 'php image gallery'failing thatm try flippingbook.com if its a portfolio your wanting to put up. easy to update xml files. its sweet.

JamesEStone, how do I do that? sounds kinda complicated to me...
I wanna have various sections, each with thumbnails, then obviously the larger images will come up when the thumbnails are selected... So only something quite simple, but I dont know how to do it myself!

jeez. that slideshow pro is damn nice for the money ($20!)
also well slick that you can have directories too - although from a useability point of view id like to see this a bit more obvious and maybe be the first screen you come to when you open it - maybe theres an option for that.

There is also Coppermine:
http://coppermine-gallery.net/in…Pretty robust. I've configured a couple sites to use it. Worth it to create/display albums of photos, users, comments, etc, or none of those things.
