1.) My first comments about you and son were in jest, to demonstrate how unqualified both of you are to discuss real racial politics. Unqualified because neither one of you are political scientists or sociologists, and because both of you are inarticulate dunces, espeically you dinky, who, despite your talent and prowess as a designer--which I do respect , could not write a grammatically correct (or coherent) sentence if your life depended on it.
2.) You have diluted hundreds of threads here with talk of your longing for penis, and mention repeatedly that you sit around on your computer naked longing for gloryholes, but you question me for a joke thread (which others found funny and commented in) and then you call me homophobic for making a crack about what you mention to the whole world everyday. That, in a nut shell, is why you're an ignoramus.
3.) I have no need to feel better or higher than you. I have no need to feel jealous. You talk shit to me repeatedly, even once saying, "I hope that your penis falls off"--which to me, suggests the jealousy is coming from the other end.
4.) I think you're a sad sap who needs to get out more (but also a sad sap who at times can be really knowledgable, who is well liked by certain cool people here, and who of course, is an excellent designer).

this happened in vancouver. yeap vancouver, the city where every other person is asian.
toronto seems to have more tolerance toward race then in vancouver. vancouver may seem really multicultural but its far from it. i remember this guy cut me off and was he was yelling at me. he was saying "go back to.." i said, "go to back where huh?" he shut up after that.
but there are unlying racisim there. its more evident in Whistler, which is supposed to be the top global resort.
i see bunch of white guys going to chinese restaurant and making chinese accents when they order and laughing. they think its funny. but i dont find it funny. this happens everywhere.

If you note, I didn't call you fresh off the boat, but the inference was clear. I'm not going to apologize because there was no racial animosity behind my words, just another attempt to aim for your achilles heel and get you to be quiet. As far as racism goes, I'm a lot more knowledgable than you'll ever give me credit for, but it really doesn't matter if you ever see that or not. Just know that the term "fresh off the boat" is a phrase used primarily by other asians, ones who have assimilated to the their respective cultures (generally american) and wish to assume a notch up on the hierarchy by belittling fellow asians. In fact, the most interesting aspect of racism to me is the artificial pecking order established amongst people of the same ethnicity (ie. blacks disliking recent african immigrants, japanse disliking chinese, who dislike vietnamese, who think laotians are ever lower, etc.)
I do think that your point about "brain dumps" is incredibly perceptive, and with my jokes and/or shit-talking, I hoped, would have been seen in that same lens. Obviously you didn't, and perhaps others who don't know me personally would feel the same way. I disagree with you but understand your points.
Myself, I try not to take things so seriously. I'm half-jewish, and people are always making little quips in my surroundings about picking up pennies or about running all of Hollywood. I generally make light of it because I don't think these comments are coming from a position of hatred. Sometimes they're ignorant, sometimes they're funny.
My brother is half black, half Jewish. The humorous possibilites of this background are enormous, as is the potential for racism. It's a fine line sometimes.
I've also been the one white guy at a Japanese dance or a Vietnamese wedding. I've been the one white guy on a basketball team of brothas. To think that shit wasn't talked to me would be silly, but the experience was still beautiful.
I just think words like homophobic and racist are tossed aside too hap-hazardly, and do, in the real world, serious damage to someone's career and/or reputation, and demonstrate a lack of understanding about humanity.
We're all different, and to pretend that there's this universal oneness is beautiful but an illusion. I think the differences between races/cultures are beautiful, sad, mysterious, funny, and sometimes tragic. It's what makes life interesting, and I think that's what should be celebrated, not an oversensitivity that leads to further miscommunication or hatred. In a weird way, i think son, despite the haziness, gets this, and I think that may have been his intent.
Anyway, I'm going to the park.

to be honest, i had to read down a few posts on the thread just to be sure exactly what you're talking about...
which is somewhat normal for your threads..
the first post is almost zen...like some kind of stream of conciousness type deal.
the second or third is a bit more leading..and then, about 7 or 8 posts in, you usually spell it out.

sorry to hear that happened to you in vancouver...that sucks man..toronto in a lot of ways is a lot better ...wasn't always..but i think it's become so multiethnic now that most folks can't remember a time that it wasn't...thus there's a lot less problems..
not that it's perfect (faaaaar from it) but i like it.
i know in the 70's when my wifes folks got here from india, they said the just about turned the fuck around and went back (to germany actually..they lived there for several years before coming to canada)...they said they were treated like gold in germany, that it was waaaaay nicer...and when they got to canada they were treated like absolute gargbage...
