what's the benefits of firewire vs usb?
i heard firewire is going to slowly disappear and usb is going to take over?

USB 2 is compariable to firewire
no matter, if your HD input/output has capped rate, it doesnt matter how fast your connection is
i use USB cause it works with alot of computers and also backwards compatible with USB 1

FireWire, uses a "Peer-to-Peer" architecture in which the peripherals are intelligent and can negotiate bus conflicts to determine which device can best control a data transfer
USB 2.0 uses a "Master-Slave" architecture in which the computer handles all arbitration functions and dictates data flow to, from and between the attached peripherals (adding additional system overhead and resulting in slower data flow control)

i have a smartdisk firelite 80gb external hard drive that i use to transport files to and from work
i take it everywhere and love it
its a firewire and moves files on the hurry up
love it.
