Native Resolution WUXGA

I just bought a new Dell Inspiron 9300 with 17" WUXGA monitor.
It has a native res of 1920x1200 which is fucking too much for doing websites or even just surfing web.
And what pisses me off the most is that when i try to switch to a lower resolution everything gets really bad looking, especially the text. It all becomes really blurry and overall fucked up.
Is there a way around it or should i just exchange it for another laptop with a screen with lower resolution?
Is there a software that can emulate resolutions? Maybe some sort of a screen-zoomer?
Thanks guys!!

increase the size of your fonts. is you crazy?

also go to appearance and turn on extra large or something... i have the same res, but over 23" :D

is there a specific percentage i have to increase\decrease the font for a specific resolution?
BTW, it's not only the font that gets fucked up, it also implies to any images, it's just that it's not so visible. If for example you have an image with some text over it, you'll see that the text will be not so sharp.
It's really weird. Im dissapointed.

I've got a 15" WUXGA screen on a Dell M70... now thats tiny! I use that res only for Alias 3D, and use the Nvidia multiple desktops thingy to switch back to 1440 width for web stuff. Its not so blurry, mainly because theres lots of pixels to start with I guess, and everything is smoothed, so you dont see the blurred/not blurred/blurred effect that you get with non-smoothed text on non-nativ eresolutions....
Its not so bad if you make sure Clear Type font smoothing is on. And if images are displaying with jaggies, make sure the wierd Microsoft DPI setting is set to 96dpoi , not 120 dpi (who ever heard of DPI settings on a screen anyway...)

off topic... but i went from having two crts at quite a hi-res to just one 20 inch apple screen on my dell box... I have less pixels, but am actually working a lot better with just the one screen
one question though... why is a 23 inch screen twice as much as a 20 incher?

Nope, it's an incredibly stupid display. Get something else.
