Lots of illustrators seek an artist representative in hopes to get more illustration work .. but an artist representative does much more than that .. can you please define the role/job description of the artist representative?
What’s are some of the most important, work and personality, characteristics you look for in a new artist to represent?
If an illustrator as a limited budget to market themselves .. what are the top 3 marketing tactics that have the best return on investment? (Postcard Mailers, Enter Communication Art Illustration Annual, etc)
What changes in the illustration industry have you seen in the last 10 years? What are some of the newest trends?
On average what is the life span of an illustrator’s career? How many years can they get work with a particular style?

- what is their commission?
- are there any upfront costs? (you may be asked to purchase a bound portfolio for them to use)
- what are their methods of advertising? Illustration annuals? Direct marketing?
- if they advertise in annuals, who pays for it?
Email your prospective rep's other artists and ask them questions about the rep. It's the best way to learn anything.

Are you interviewing them because you want them to rep you or is it purely an interview to get their perspective?
