i've been working fairly intensely (14+ hours a day) for the past month on the compter rendering, coding, etc. and just last week i started to feel this ridiculously intense pain in my forearm, my friend who works in a web design company started hazing me and saying i was a carpal tunnel syndrome wuss who was going to starting wearing black wrist braces...now 4 asprin and 5 days later i'm thinking about it...but the pain's in my forearm, not my so much my hand...wtf!!!!!!

if your not using one already, i would suggest a Wacom tablet
a mouse is so abstract, i always thought, but by using a soft rubber grip stylus as your computer input device, it def. makes a world of diff.
they dont brake the bank either - u can try out a small model for about $99

Pop just picked me up a £30 Trust A5 drawing area model with a metal pen second hand. Hit the PC fair first folks.

thanks for wacom link, i'm seriously considering it b/c i haven't seen any mouse/mice that seem to offer a good solution...i'm getting old--not even 30 and my body's tanking on me....

I'm starting to get it to but mine is caused from jerkin off too much. I've let my girlfriend do it for me which seems to be helping out.

i've just been diagnosed with carpal tunnel. i've got constant pins and needles in my right thumb and index finger and every now and then get pain all up my right arm.
apparently i'm going to be given a splint to wear which should be fun.
i've got a wacom but i just can't get used to it.

don't you guys do stretching before work?

I have developed a callus on my wrist from using my mouse so much :(

wow. Never even come close to even thinking I had carpal tunnel. maybe I don't work enough. Not really that big of a deal though:

Get that surgery and get those tendons cut. Sounds extreme maybe, but effective. A lot of Motorcross riders get tendons severed in there wrists due to pain from bike riding. And some powerlifters even get certain bicep tendons severed to avoid impingement pain in the shoulder area. I had serious impingement pain in my shoulder, then one day, my bicep tore itself away from my collar bone. Went to the dr. and he said there was absolutely no reason to get it re-attached except for cosmetic purposes; and guess what? Zero shoulder pain.

that's fucking weird, point5
so you have a piece of muscle just flopping around in there?

regular breaks. 5 min every hour. get some coffee, smoke a cig, get your gf to jerk you off.
if you lack discipline, get a workbreak-alert-app.

yeah 14+ hours working non stop for a month an half did it for me. now my dr says i need to sleep w/a wrist splint and take breaks to stretch, walk around, etc.
i'm considering faking smoking (just carrying around a pack + lighter) so that i can walk down to the street to waste 20 mintues every 2 hours...
