venom was an alien spider suit that spiderman picked up and started to wear, but it became evil and took on a life of its own

in the Ultimate Spiderman, Venom was a suit created by Richard Parker (peter deceased father in the regualr spidey universe) and Eddie Brock Sr. created the Venom suit for healing Cancer, but the suit killed Richard Parker and Eddie Brock, but mistakingly Brock jr. taakes the suit and becomes Venom!
venom actually in not a spider suit at all and that comment needs to be correc ted.
on a distant galaxy The Beyonder who had taken a group of heroes and villians away to have their own Secret War to hold the fate of the rest of galaxy in their hands.
Spiderman was one of the heroes and since he keeps a secret identity he needed to fix the rips in his costume and finds what he thought was a machine that would fix hsi costume but really was a holding cell for the symbioite which we now describe as venom, but at this point was nt venom yet.
so peter parker takes the black ball of goo and it adheres to his body, and unknowingly to parker this was a living creature feeding off of his emotions also changing once again peter parker dna adding to what he already is.
well after the secret war was over and many months had passed the alien symbiote black costume was dna mapping itself with peter's dna and reed richards (mr. fantastic) learns this and informs peter, but then the symbiote trys to take full control of peter's body but then mr. fantastic takes a super sonic blaster and ZAPPPs the costume off peter containing it within a sound proof container.
the costume now without a host develops a massive hatred for peter parker and what spiderman is.
at the same time Jopurnalst Eddie Brock who wants to make a name for himself lies about something that lands hiim the front page of the Daily bugle, but our friendly neighboorhood spiderman wouldnt have any of it and blew the spotlight away from brock and showed to the world that brock lied about everything he said making him lose his job and his apartment and his woman causing him to hate peter parker and spiderman.
well one day the black costume escapes from the containment field that the fantastic 4 was holding it within and went in search for the marvelous power of peter parker, but peter wouldnt have any of it so it took the costume to the church and when the bells were struck the sonics caused the costume to break its hold on peter parker oooozzing into the cracks of the floor and sitting in the church below these cracks is Eddie Brock who then gets covered with the black symbiote costume which telepathicly talks to eddie brock telling him they can merge into a new being a new form one that will have the power to kill spiderman...thus SPIDER-MAN #300 birth of VENOM!!!

They will most likely need to take some major liberties with the story if venom is truly the (one of the) villain. My guess is that they will take more elements from the Ultimate origin than the traditional (odd substance, alien clothing machine on another planet after his costume is destroyed). The movies have mixed the best elements of both universes. Even more than the Ultimate universe cancer fighting experiment, the animated series version where John Jameson brought the Venom symbiot to Earth after a moon landing would work well (they did introduce him in 2). But if Topher is Eddie Brock... bah! I think although seeing venom on-screen would be cool, it's not really right for the tone the previous movies have set. If Venom were the baddy, I would hope he was the only one, but we know that’s not the case regardless as sign indicate multiple villains this time.
We already know from the end of Spiderman 2 that for certain, Green Goblin (Harry) or Hobgoblin (depending how they re-imagine things) will be one of the villains. I just hope that Raimi can master multiple baddies better than the Batman movies. Character development has been the strength of the movies (well maybe not John Jameson, but we were not supposed to like him to much or we’ll feel bad when he got jilted at the alter).

i was totalyl thinking as i was reading your post about how crappy a ton of baddies ala 'bane' in batman who could have easily been better than any of the previous villians.
but topher is mad skinny and i dont care what weight lifting this boy does he still doesnt have the eddie brock mass even before the symbiote mergeed with him. in his apt it was like the bench press and thats it.
i n my mind when i close my eyes is still see Jacob Gyllenhaal as Peter Parker.

e-pill – I agree Jake Gyllenhaal might have made a better Peter Parker. His look would have worked better as I think Toby is a little too nerdish / wiener-like. Peter was a science geek and a bit of an outcast, but still had a stronger masculinity than Maguire can convey. Although I wouldn’t have liked the continuity change, when rumors that he would replace Maguire in 2 came up, I thought it would be alright.
Hey do you think they’ll do an FF cross-over so Mr. Fantastic can help Peter discover the truth about Venom as his new suit? LOL
