Wondering what people's thoughts are on the state of the industry right now. For freelancers, are you doing better or worse than you were last year? For those who have been looking for a job lately, are you finding it easy or difficult to get an interview and get hired? Fulltimers and creative directors, are you inudated with new work? The reason I ask is at my company at least we've noticed a sea of change in terms of the amount of work out there, and that's it's surprisingly difficult to find good, qualified people, whereas a year ago you couldn't throw a rock without hitting an out of work desiger. The industry seems to be fiting on all cyclinders...or are we just lucky?

*bump*
c'mon, no one has any thoughts on this? Maybe everyone's just too busy with new work to respond?:)

1. We're all to lazy to read it
2. What industry are you talking about? (yes I know it should be obvious, but I'm from a product design background and never quite worked out what NT is meant to be about...)see... this post is too long as well...

Hmmm...I also figured NT was focusing on web design. Not to be exclusionary tho.

We've been really busy but it is now slowing down. We're alright becausce we're a small team with low overheads. We charge what we think is the right price for the final product and that sees us ok.
Good Freelance is hard to find, but then we're not in the 'city' so there are less designers to hire.

...but we are based in the UK

i'm a freelancer and i am at a point where i can't keep up anymore. it's damn ridiculous, and i'm not sure what to do about it... find another employee/intern or turn down jobs. it's enough to keep me busy till january at the moment.

design industry (web) must be doing well. Ima freelancer- Haven't looked for work in a looong while and everyone is willing to pay some duckets. All the companies I work for are all hiring too. I can't find anyone that freelances either cause they all have a FT job or already have a ton of work. must be a good thing. hope it stays like this.

there is a lack of real talent everywhere at the moment.

The next 5-7 years will be the changing of the guard so-to-speak. The Gen-Xer's will be controlling the full marketing budgets soon and running most of the agencies.
