so how do you get pics huge if most stock photos are only 300dpi at 8x10 or something?

printers use somesort of software to blow them up from quarter scale. the reults are amazing, ven up close but i dont have any idea how or what they use

hmmm.. i know for billboards and stuff the res is actually really low because you're not looking at it close up, but i'm trying to figure out how to use it just for like a 24x36 poster

for a poster you can probably just res it up in photoshop

please explain... i've heard people say that and mean different things

you literally scale it to the desired final size in PS. whats the % of increase?
- MLP0
i will probably take them down to 150dpi because that's all our oversize prints at and get that size, then scale it the rest of the way... i wouldn't go over 125% unless test prints are ok. could i go bigger?
- tny0
well if i understand you correctly, if you're going to go down to 150ppi, tehn scale up 125%... you've got plenty of information to scale either way

these will be viewed too close up to go halftone

hmm... maybe my work wants to spend the $300, but i dont!

if its just 1 image you could also google for some how-to's of the same description..
i think the plugs really just perform a series of caluclated blur/ resize/ sharpen actions.. i've seen how to's describing the process, just might be a slow process.

word... i will look around. thanks for that link though.. i didn't realize there were even plugins for that stuff
