i've just had to reinstall my ftp program here and i'm hvaing problems with seeing htaccess files. i remeber using a code [something like '-a'] to make them viewable. does anyone know what i'm talking about??
cheers

in ws_ftp it is '-a' (something to do with file masking) I use fileZilla now though much better & it can see them by default... + it has this brilliant no timeout thing going on.. pc only tho.

I do.
Whatever your FTP program is, it'll be using LIST as the command to fetch a list of files. You need to change that command to LIST -a and it should then show invisibles. How you do this though depends on the program.

I use leech and it lets you pop this in as a config option....

thanks Guys, totally forgot where and what it was! its the remote/ local file mask, thanks for the prompts. I think i need to upgrade this archaic piece and get with the modern world. ha ha

I tried upgrading to Smart FTP and the fucking thing freaked me out. Insane.
I went straight back to Leech which was last updated in 1999 and still works better than the rest.

I've started use the one integrated into dreamweaver which seems to work okay but i still prefer my old and trusty WS FTP although it makes me feel like an old boy unwilling to change with the times and shit. haha :)
