I want to let users add a caption over a photo, and for clarity was looking for a 'subtitle' font, solid white text with a black shadow so it would be legible over any colour image. Is there such a font? The shadowed ones all seem to be empty text and just the shadow? Apologies if I'm being a fud.

Ta, but again, they're empty with a shaded outline. Can you add drop shadow to dynamic text in flash 8? Just got bloody mx 2004

didn't realize that.
the dual textbox version sounds like a quick fix.
and i know there are fonts with a regular and a bold version that can placed on top of each other.
the bold black and the regular white on top, so you get the outline effect.

why dont you just use 2 dynamic text boxes slightly apart, the bottom one black for the shadow. actionscript the mouseOver and you're done.

Aye, looks like thats the only way. They're being created on the fly, formatted, dragged around and resized, so its a bit of a pain in the arse.
