do not, i repeat, DO NOT ever go over a 300 thread count sheet.
i splurged a few months ago and got some 600 thread count sheets and it is like sleeping on air. so f-ing soft! when i go back to the 300 count its just not the same thing.
a 300 count is still soft, but holy hell, 600 is just silly.

whenever my parents would buy new bed stuff for us, they always bought such crap, probably 100 thread count sheets, like sleeping on burlap. After about 50 washes over the course of a year, they finally softened up!
