Did any of you go or plan to go to your High School reunion? What was it like? Did you have a good time? My 10 yr was this last Saturday. I went with 3 party animal friends of mine that I'm still friends with from school and acted a fool. I would have liked to have had a bit more meaningful conversations with a few people but I was really wasted.

i just went to my 5 yr last year it was actually funny to see people that were the "rich popular and set for success" kids there with no jobs no money and no life ... living off there parents and hating there life... it was pleasing to say the least ... i may not have a ton of money or a body of steel but im doing what i want and loving it ... and that means more then anything.

I plan on going because there will be many people there who never left our town or the area where we went to school and are doing NOTHING now.
Isn't that the only reason to go to a high schoo reunion? To show people you didn't like how much better than them you are now?
I AM TOTALLY KIDDING!
Just wanted to raise some feathers! :DI do plan on going to mine next year. I had fun in high school, the people planning it were and are still very good friends, and we had a really cool class where jocks got along with skaters and band people, etc.

it was pleasing to say the least ... lol!
I thought everyone would be comparing careers and stuff like that but I didn't even hear anyone mention it. I think one person asked me what I do for a living.

i went to my 10yr. same thing as mentioned above. strange how the captain of the football team or the prom king were the fattest guys there. the prom queen whom everyone wanted had 5 kids. after a few drinks one of my old flames had said a bunch of the girls had a bet that i was fat, bald and a used car salesman. hardly. the toughest guy i knew pulled up in a minivan complete with a child seat still in the back.
funny what 10 years can do. it was fun but all of the guys and girls who stuck around there wanted to talk about old times. how we did this or i did that, kinda sad in a way.
there was a few people there that i really did enjoy seeing again though.

seems my 10 year's come and gone..dont' think they organized one for our year..
however, the group that i hung out with pretty much still exists today and we all still keep in touch and see each other...
atleast a few times a year we all seem able to get together for a party or something..
tho, mostly now it's to celebrate our childrens birthdays..but it's all good..
a few weeks ago, we were alltogether, and this topic came up...one of the guys basically said, 'why the fuck would i go to that, when the only people i wanted to keep in touch with are right here!'..
dude had a good point..
i'd LOVE to have something like traut's experience and see whatever became of the 'beautiful people' that'd be good for a few laughs...but ultimately, i could give a toss about em...
i'm happy...
got the career i always wanted, the wife of my dreams, the most amazing child...last thing i could care about is whether the captain of the football team did anything with his life...
:)
ex*still tho..it'd be nice to see...
i have to admit it..
living well really is the best revenge i suppose..

so having kids is a bad thing?
and, minivans aren't cool?

so true kona.
I know of many people that got married pretty quickly, had kids, or amounted to nothing. Funny, I would have figured them for that even 10 years ago.
In a very non-selfish way, when you go out and accomplish something and make more of yourself than people might expect, you have every right to be proud of that.

yeah ex. the pretty girls weren't pretty anymore and actually, there was this amazing girl there and no one could figure out who she was.
turned out to be 'the ugly' girl from the class. after she told me who she was i remembered her from *cough band *cough. she thanked me for being so nice to her all those years in *cough band *cough.
and most of the average girls grew up to be quite stunning.
crazy.

whenever i run into people i used to know it seems like nothing but small talk and not really worth the effort.
not to be negative, but i've run into a bunch of folks this summer and each time i'd end up thinking the same thing: you'd need a week of chatting before you'd finally get to something meaningful.

"there was this amazing girl there and no one could figure out who she was"
Man so true. This girl came up to me being all nice and I didn't recognize her at all. She looked like this hippy babe with long blond hair. It turns out she was this quiet square girl who always had this short dark haircut back in the day. A lot of the nerdy girls looked pretty good now.
The hardest part for me is trying to remember if I was a jerk to them back then.
I usually just assume I was.

not to be high and almighty.... but i felt a bit of resentment that i made something of myself.
ie. went to college. graduated in an interesting and creative field. am actually working in my career using my degree. am in shape and was madly in love.... and had all of my hair. it was weird.
