Does anyone charge more for projects that are rush. If so, how much more? I was thinking of starting to do this, cause client's are fucking ridiculous. I was thinking of slapping on a 50% surcharge? Is that resonable?

i'd think 50% is too much, but i do charge certain larger amounts if they come to me with a deadline that i can't make unless i drop other client projects.

If they can't plan things out properly they deserve to get charged a rush fee. Here's our breakdown.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Rush charges apply with a 24 hour or less time limit and are as follow: 24 hours or less up to 13 hours 50% markup, 12 hours or less up to 9 hours 75% markup, 8 hours or less 100% markup charges.

BTW not one client has had a problem signing a contract with this in every one.Hope that helps.

Well, I'm usually fully booked for a week - 2 weeks when busy. So, what because rush? Kind of tricky to decide... I was thinking if I don't get at least 5 working days warning, then it's concidered rush. I'm not a walking copy place, you know? Does this seem fair at all?
Another question, is hourly rate... I have one rate for EVERYTHING. A client is complaining that I should charge less for HTML prototyping since it's "grunt" work. I didn't budge, but was curious to see if other designers had dif rates depending on the work needed. I think ideally, I should probably charge my regular rate for everything (work done by my employees) and have a surcharge for work done by myself (creative director).

i say that's their fault. You should charge them out the Arse for being so demanding.
