I'm thinking of painting a custom pair of kicks and I was wondering if anyone could give me some pointers?
type of paint to use, using cut velum to mask, etc?

I would think some textile paint or something that would adhere to fabric/leather. I also would be curious.
What sneakers are you considering?

i think if you use paint marker on a pair of white af1's, the markers should hold up pretty well. i bet a quick google search would yield dividends.

I would use a spray paint of some kind.
When done spray a protective clear coat over the shoe.To mask I would use that air brush masking stuff. Its like a big clear sticker that you can cut your design out of.

I was thinking an all white pair of Adidas Old Schools. What about you? I think air force one's look cool, I just dont like the swoosh.

shell toes?
i prefer af1's but, yo, i'm not gonna be wearing them.

I would probaly do a pair of AF1's. You could always unstich the swoosh, could be an interesting look with the swoosh gone.

the stuff you get needs to be flexible and ultra adherant to the leather...
