Salvation Army is way better than the Red Cross. I give my clothes a few times a year to the Salvation Army. Get the receipt if you'd like and it's tax deductable.

That's the same thing my wifes grandparents were saying when the Katrina commercials from Red Cross were on. They were talking about how The Red Cross takes a lot of credit when the Salvation Army is the one who is always at a disaster first but does not do it for publicity so the Media makes it seem as though the Red Cross was there first. They mentioned more stuff that happened during WWII also...

i use goodwill, they give a better itemized receipt, for when you want to claim your taxes.

i've only ever given to the salvation army.
after katrina hit my fiance' and i spent a friday night going through our closets for clothes to give.
i really like how they help and could care less about media attention.
